Malaysians gift Indian mother of seven home and warmth

Community leaders, a corporate group and newspaper readers in Malaysia have pooled in resources to help an Indian origin mother of seven who was thrown out of her house recently.
As a Mothers' Day gesture, the donors arranged not only a home, but also rent for the dwelling, household goods and food for the family that was evicted for non-payment of rent a month ago.
'I am just overjoyed that we have a place to call home and I won't have to worry about where our next meal comes from. I am so grateful,' Pushpamary was quoted as saying by The Star newspaper Sunday.
Canon Marketing (Malaysia) representative Thomas Chinniah presented a contribution of RM2,000 (approx $625) worth of daily necessities like milk powder, biscuits, chocolates, cooking oil and diapers from the company's staff to Pushpamary and her children at the Vivekananda Home in Rembau in Negri Sembilan, southwest Malaysia.
Readers of The Star donated RM52,000 in less than a month after Pushpamary's story was highlighted. The money raised will be kept in a trust fund managed by the Vivekananda Home and a monthly sum given to the family for their household needs.
A donor who chose to remain anonymous gave RM5,000. This will cover rent and utility bills for more than a year, the newspaper said.
In addition, staff of Canon Marketing (Malaysia) pooled their resources and donated daily necessities worth RM2,000 for Mothers' Day.
Pushpamary's biggest struggle was to provide food for her children - S. Theeban, 9 Theeba, 8, Puvendran, 6, Sharmila, 5, Devi, 4, Thilaga, 2, and Yugendran, 1.
'I am now able to cook simple meals and the children haven't had to go to bed hungry. With three square meals a day, they seem more active and healthier now,' she said.
Pushpamary's husband, who does odd jobs in Seremban, seldom returns home.

this shows that there are still alot of peoples do concern the problems of those unfortunate and those who are in the severe poverty position

Malaysians have finally begun to see the needs on the ground and respond directly to them.We have missed this practice far too long?
What pleasure it brings to see the poor cheered up and thank the Maker for that timely provision due to them that somebody cheated them of!

I appreciate the immediate actions taken. Mr. Yoga Dharma’s comments not to donate to temples is not wellcomed. Donations to MIC is out of the picture. But to temples it is your choice, faith and believe. Do not mix it with charity or your personal believe. Temples are the guardians of the great indian heritage, but sadly it was not fully utilized that way. Funds for temples is a call, a millionare’s money may not be utilized for temples if there is no call, a poor man’s money may be utilized if there is a call.
