CITY OF MANILA, Jan. 28 (PIA) -- Impressive performances and even more impressive women highlighted the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) announcement of its various activities for the 2020 National Arts Month (NAM) celebration in February. The event held at the NCCA building located inside the Walled City of Intramuros gathered Ms Universe Catriona Gray, singers Julie San Jose and KZ Tandingan.

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray partners with the NCCA in leading the National Arts Month celebration as the new Arts Ambassador. NCCA's new Arts Ambassador is known for incorporating indigenous textiles and materials on her outfits, and created awareness about early Philippine History when she featured the design of the tattoos of the 16th-century Visayan warriors documented by the Magellan-Elcano expedition and of the so-called Boxer Codex on her national costume during the 2018 Miss Universe competition.

Likewise, Asia's Pop Diva Julie Anne San Jose joins Asia's Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan as the new Music Ambassador for the NCCA. Tandingan who gave a fresh and exceptional rendition of the NAM theme song, Ani ng Sining, renewed her partnership as NCCA's Music Ambassador.

This year's theme, "Ani ng Sining" highlights the artistic activities fueled by the passion of Filipino artists and cultural workers all around the country.

Exhibits, workshops, shows, concerts, lectures, and tours are just a taste of the series of events that will take place in different parts of the country.

Led by NCCA's Subcommission on the Arts (SCA) Commissioner Teddy Co, these shows are called Ani ng Sining: Philippine Arts Festival NCCA promised an exciting, colorful, and enriching month of February that will showcase the sense of creativity and heritage of each community.

As the Philippines' leading government agency for arts and culture, the NCCA got big names to serve as its promoters to encourage not just artists, but also ordinary citizens to actively participate and become a part of the upcoming activities.

Among the list of past NCCA Ambassadors were Pia Wurtzbach, Aiza Seguerra, Boy Abuanda, and Piolo Pascual, to name a few. (PIA NCR)
