NEW DELHI, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Villagers began to pick saffron flowers during saffron harvesting in Pampore area of Pulwama, about 15 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

High-priced saffron has a medicinal value besides being used for culinary purpose.
