NAYPYITAW, Myanmar - The Junta's election commission reported finding only 2,169 examples of double voting and 1,077 other cases of voter fraud during the 2020 election, a tiny proportion of the millions who voted.

Min Aung Hlaing stated in the aftermath of last year's coup that he was forced to topple the civilian government of the National League for Democracy (NLD), which won the 2020 election by a landslide due to extensive voter fraud.

However, according to the Junta's own data, released by election commission member Khin Maung Oo at a news conference on Friday, approximately 0.1 percent of the nearly 26 million persons who voted last year were guilty of fraud.

"We are still trying to take action against the 2,169 double voting cases who have the same names and ID numbers. Investigations are still underway," Khin Maung Oo told a conference in Naypyitaw, Myanmar's capital.

On November 8, over 70% of Myanmar's 38,271,477 eligible voters cast ballots, resulting in a humiliation for the military's proxy Union Solidarity and Development Party.

An NLD central executive committee member, Aung Kyi Nyunt, said: "The whole country and the whole world knows that they're lying. They keep saying there was voter fraud, but they still can't prove it."

According to an Amarapura local election commission member, authorities have filed proceedings against suspected fraudsters under Section 171f of the Penal Code, which punishes election fraud with up and a year in prison, a fine, or both.

He further claimed that two of the township's 150,000 registered voters had been arrested.
